e-Governance and e-Democracy

He described research being undertaken by himself, Dr Jan Meyer and others in conjunction with GCIS examining the role of MPCCs in both e-Governance and e-Democracy. Regarding e-Governance, response to tenders, application for government grants, lodging of tax forms, and applying for jobs in government are all valued e-Government services. The research team's primary data gathering approach is by survey where questionnaires are administered to users by trained interviewers, triangulated with less structured interviews with managers of MPCCs and related services. The study has potential for extending comparatively to other countries. The project conforms to the high standards of the Monash ethics committee system. Reporting and knowledge sharing with e-Government and e-Democracy researchers from other countries will take place in a workshop session of Monash Community Informatics annual conference at Prato, Italy, in October this year.
