Darelle van Greunen

Darelle van Greunen is an Associate Professor and the Research Group Leader of the User Experience Group at the Institute for ICT Advancement at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She is also a Senior Researcher for SAP Research Pretoria.

Her background is multidisciplinary, combining computer science, information systems, African languages, education, media studies and psychology.

She holds a PhD in Computer Science and specializes in human computer interaction and user experience, reflected in her extensive publication record.

She has received several awards for her research, including the following:
2010: NMMU Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology - Award as Senior Researcher of the Year 2007: National Research Foundation (NRF) Top Achiever Award 2006: NMMU Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology - Award as Emerging Researcher of the Year 2005: SAICSIT Award for Best Research Paper in Information Technology

She also has an acknowledged professional standing in the ICT community and holds several positions as board member, advisory board member and steering committee member.
