Abstract

The study investigated the challenges and prospects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Nigeria communities. It also examines the behaviour of rural communities towards the use of Information and Communication Technologies. The investigation was carried out in Dabi community, one of the satellite communities in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. The respondents comprised 120 purposively selected youths of Dabi community. Relevant data was collected with the use of instrument titled: Challenges and Prospects of ICTs in Nigeria Communities (CHAPICTIN) developed by the researcher. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and average mean score. The study identified some of the challenges bedeviling the implementation of ICT programme in Nigeria communities, particularly her rural areas to include: lack of adequate knowledge and training about the use of ICTs, inaccessibility to the ICT media and epileptic power supply.
